Marc-Antoine Ducas, CEO of Avvy, Unveils His Vision for the Future

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I join Avvy Health as CEO. I warmly thank the founders for their trust. My mandate will be to build a company that intends to become the leader in decentralized health services.

What is Avvy?

Avvy is a comprehensive platform offering convenient and decentralized medical services.

Founded by prominent physicians and funded by a Nasdaq-listed company, with operations across Canada, Avvy allows patients to order services such as blood draws, specimen collection, medication administration and vaccinations directly from their mobile phone. Health professionals are then deployed at home, at work or in pharmacies.

Unlike the traditional model, which requires patients to attend hospitals on a demanding schedule, our solution offers unparalleled convenience and flexibility, as well as a wide range of medical services to meet individual and organizational needs.

What are the issues that Avvy intends to solve?

Health systems in the West are going through a multifactorial crisis. The aging population leads to an increasing demand for care, while human and financial resources are limited. This situation is exacerbated by a shortage of medical personnel, due in part to difficult working conditions and a lack of adequate training. Infrastructure, often obsolete, cannot respond effectively to current needs, leading to prolonged waiting times and a reduction in the quality of care.

The consequences include limited access to health services, increased avoidable mortality and worsening health inequalities. Overburdening health systems also jeopardizes their long-term financial viability.

To resolve this crisis, several avenues are possible: the integration of digital technologies to improve the efficiency and accessibility of care and the promotion of decentralized medical services, such as home care, to relieve congestion in hospitals.

Moreover, when she arrived at the head of the Agence Santé Québec, Geneviève Biron identified her priorities: operational excellence, accessibility to care and services, digital transformation and innovation. Avvy completely shares this vision.
